After overcoming the obstacles of being raised in Metro Chicago Illinois; Lamekia arose above the challenges and excelled in Business.
Eventually she took all the experience she gained and decided she wanted to use it to help teens!
Lamekia has always had a love and passion for youth and children. Because of her background in finance, she teaches financial literacy to various youths in the Chicago private and public school sectors. In 2013, she founded the Heyy Girl Foundation. The organization’s mission is to empower teenage girls and young women to excel while overcoming life obstacles. Lamekia’s goal is to one day open a transitional housing shelter for homeless and runaway teens.
Currently, Lamekia serves as youth Commissioner in the village of Park Forest, Illinois.
As the CEO of Heyy Girl and using her background in banking, analytical skills, keen eye and creativity she formed HGP Events, the corporate, nonprofit and political event planning company you see today. Lamekia has executed the ultimate experience for companies such as The University of Chicago, Diner en Blanc – Chicago and Paris, Love & Hip Hop ATL, United Center for former First Lady Michelle Obama’s book signing/release and many more.
